Initially put together as an outlet for fun, musical creativity, EarPhunk began with late night jam sessions between good friends guitarist/vocalist Mark Hempe, bassist Michael Comeaux, guitarist Paul Provosty, and drummer Michael Matthews. Reigning from the funky town of New Orleans, the quartet was set on furthering their exploration into playing music, and began to polish their jams and express their musical aspirations at various house parties and small clubs around New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA. Close to a year later, as the group began to gel and find more opportunities to perform, long time friend and keyboardist Christian Galle joined forces with the Phunk to collectively propel the band’s young yet promising sound. Adding vintage organ and electric piano textures to the already heavy, funky jams, the addition seemed inevitable. The band has not looked back since, and has built up a healthy repertoire of well thought out and memorable originals, while paying homage to their influences through covers of artists like Stevie Wonder, the Meters, James Brown, Herbie Hancock, and Jimi Hendrix. Drawing from a large pool of relentlessly loyal friends, who have been converted to fans, attendance at EarPhunk’s shows began to rise while word of mouth began to travel, and EarPhunk was granted their first gig at the legendary and world famous Tipitina’s – a dream come true for the now five young and determined musicians. With over two hundred people in attendance, EarPhunk has since returned to Tipitina’s on several occasions, and has frequented venues like the Maple Leaf, the Blue Nile, Chelsea’s, and successfully completed their first tour in the summer of 2010, anchored by a set at the Wakarusa Music Festival.

Royal Teeth makes music for adventures.

With their newly released debut studio album, “Act Naturally”, the band is honing their hooks and and perfecting their melodies. Musicians/Singers Gary Larsen and Nora Patterson provide heartfelt lyrics as the band travels through adventurous soundscapes filled by Andrew Poe, sharply delivered low end by Josh Wells, and huge backbeats provided by Josh Hefner. The deliciously pop-inspired hooks augmented by Stevie Billeaud’s guitar serve up eclectic and infectious dance hooks that will make you want to move. Songs like the raucous “Wild” with its vibrantly chanted chorus will undoubtedly keep playing in your head long after the song is over. Equally as unforgettable is the reinvention of the hauntingly lovely “Heartbeats” by The Knife. Make sure and pick up a copy of “Act Naturally” now.

Big History is a six piece soul/electronic/pop act roaring out of New Orleans. Anchored by the smoky vocals of Meg Roussel, the group’s catchy hooks pour from laptops and violins alike– think Beach House meets The XX. The band has crafted a bedroom pop debut flashing with the pulse and shimmer of a 3 A.M. dance party, but smooth and hazy enough to be revisited the morning after. Having caught the eyes and ears of eager listeners both at home and abroad, Big History is ready to show the world what else is up their sleeves.

Fou and Drew performed multiple shows billed as Gravity A when the other half of the band was unable to attend the show. Determined to create a sound that worked as a duo, Fou and Drew developed a unique way of using a loopstation combined with live drums, live keyboards, and vocals to create a full sound capable of playing any venue, big or small. The two had stumbled onto uncharted territory. They could now easily perform as an opener for an indie rock band, or headline a late night laptop DJ party. P.Y.M.P.’s highly relatable sound is catching like wild fire. The band set the bar for new track releases when they debuted a new song every performance for a few months straight, and still strive to achieve this goal whenever possible. Fou and Drew, a.k.a. “The 1′s and 2′s” for MC Matt Peoples, have developed a unique sound in the electronic community with a no holds barred laughable attitude towards each tune written. “Music is fun,” the two say, “and can also be funny at the same time. We have fun and hope you get a laugh at our expense.”
Without a doubt, this duo is packed to the brim with talent, ambition, and energy. They are guaranteed to make you wanna move your dancing feet with a smile.
